Summer tourists from Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, and the USA, plenty of returning customers booking longer and longer trips, and a new successful revenue concept. This summer can only be described as a success for Bowter’s electric boats.
The much-talked-about electric boat concept from Bowter achieved significant commercial success during the summer of 2024. Much of this success can be traced back to Karlstad, where the company Karlstad Tourism has significantly boosted rentals.
Appreciated by tourists
– The concept has really worked as intended now. We see that it’s appreciated by tourists who view it as an attraction, but also as a social activity for groups of friends. It’s clear the boats attract returning customers who book longer trips after testing them for an hour the first time. We’ve also received very positive reviews from our users, says Jonas Ulveseth, founder and CEO of Bowter.
Bowter sells its electric boats with a system that is almost entirely automated. This summer has shown that the business model is financially viable for companies that invest in the boats and focus on rentals.
– It’s possible to run a business with a full-time position even with just two boats, especially since operations are inexpensive with an automated system, says Jonas Ulveseth.
– In Karlstad, they’ve also used the boats as advertising platforms where companies can purchase space on the boats. It’s a great showcase for companies and a good revenue stream for those renting out the boats. Additionally, partnering companies can use the boats for both their employees and customers.
Bowter is focused on developing its concept and expects similar success in other cities, particularly in cities with canals that offer an inner-city vibe.
The concept is further developed
– This also means the concept has great potential for development. Next year, we hope to establish partnerships with restaurants and cafes so that it will be easy to order food for your trips. It will be like an extra table for the restaurant and a great service for those renting the boats. Meanwhile, we’re working to secure more destinations.
Soon, a crowdfunding campaign will also be launched, where anyone can invest in Bowter and gain various types of benefits.
– We’re calling it Captains of Bowter, and it feels like an exciting concept that can attract those who want more access to the boats and who believe in our idea of a simpler, more sustainable, and more accessible life on the water.
