Fibu wins the Packnorth Award 2024

Fibu AB was announced the winner of the Packnorth Award in the category Smart and Intelligent Packaging! Packnorth Award is the largest packaging competition in the Nordic region and this year they received a record number of entries! The ceremony features eleven awards and the winners were selected by a jury of five specialists from both academic institutions and the private sector.

Fibu AB has developed a wood fibre-based foam material that works as an eco-friendly substitute to many fossil-based protective packaging alternatives on the market, like polyethylene (PE) and expanded polystyrene (EPS).

The Jury’s motivation

The packaging is both smart and innovative, with intelligent construction and integrated sensors. As cost-efficiency becomes more crucial in quality assurance, this mono-material, temperature-controlled box offers high insulation capacity. It’s a sustainable alternative to EPS packaging, featuring a clear environmental label and the added benefit of being reusable.

– Receiving a Packnorth Award for our sustainable, temperature-controlled box that we developed together with Freelway AB highlights the potential for sustainable last-mile delivery applications in healthcare and grocery! says CEO and Co-Founder Majid Alimadadi.

Fibu AB joined Sting Bioeconomy in 2022, built on eight years of Majid Alimadadi’s research on production methods and characteristics of three-dimensional fibre structures at Mid Sweden University, and has since been nominated and won several awards in the industry.
