Lumine North, led by Jacqueline Hedin and Tom Hedin, is making history as the first winners from Värmland of SKAPA-talang, the prestigious award presented by the SKAPA Foundation to Sweden’s foremost young innovators.
They receive the honour for their technology enabling the production of LED lamps made from biomaterials. (read more about Lumine North)
Jury motivation:
Lumine North has developed a product based on renewable materials, primarily forest-based resources, that makes it possible to replace aluminium and sheet metal in lighting fixtures without compromising performance or lifespan.
The result is a high-tech luminaire with a significantly lower climate footprint than existing products on the market, while also being far more environmentally friendly. The market is global and aligns well with current and future environmental requirements.
– It’s fantastic, we’re thrilled. There were many strong companies and pitches. It feels especially rewarding to be the first winners representing Värmland, says Tom Hedin. – We would like to thank the jury, as well as the customers and suppliers who have provided valuable feedback during the product development process.
– It feels absolutely amazing, it’s a great honour. This recognition gives legitimacy to both us and the product,” says Jacqueline Hedin.

The SKAPA foundation was established in 1985 in memory of Alfred Nobel and presented its first award in 1986.
It turned out to be a busy evening at the Swedish National Museum of Science and Technology, as the company had also been nominated the same evening as one of eight finalists in Startup4Climate (Northern Europe’s largest competition for climate and sustainability startups) after winning the People’s Choice vote earlier that night.
– There was an interview and an acceptance speech, and then I had to head straight to Startup4Climate, where Jacqueline gave the presentation, says Tom Hedin.
