With a pilot plant in place in Sweden, Lixea is ready to expand its business of converting biogenic waste into great value. To aid in this expansion, Ulla-Britt Fräjdin Hellqvist has been appointed as the Chairwoman of the Board.
Using innovative technology, the Dendronic® Process, Lixea aims to repurpose unwanted waste materials and contribute to greener industries, moving away from petrochemicals—a vision that resonates with Ulla-Britt Fräjdin Hellqvist.
“I’m passionate about solutions that help make the world a better place. Seeing what Lixea can achieve by transforming waste from agriculture and the forest industry into something valuable is inspiring. It’s exciting to be part of this journey,” said Ulla-Britt Fräjdin Hellqvist, the newly appointed Chairwoman of the Board at Lixea.
Since the middle of the 2000s, Ulla-Britt Fräjdin Hellqvist has focused her energy on investing in startups and serving in various board and advisory roles. Entrepreneurship, innovation, and forward-thinking have been common themes in Lixea’s latest recruitment.
“I’ve specialized in leadership, industry, sustainability, environment, science, and research. I see myself as diversified, but with 35 years in the automotive industry—22 of which were in various roles at Volvo—that’s my home field.”
The team at Lixea is thrilled to welcome Ulla-Britt Fräjdin Hellqvist.
“Ulla-Britt’s exceptional leadership skills, strategic vision, and extensive industry experience make her the ideal person to take over the role from our previous Chair, Paul Mines. Paul guided us through an extremely challenging period during the global pandemic when we transferred our lab-scale technology from the UK to Sweden, built our pilot plant, and established our team and operations. With Ulla-Britt, we are ready to pursue our expansion plans, focus on growing the team, and scale up our process”, said Krisztina Kovacs-Schreiner, CEO.
“We are now focusing on our commercial development and are therefore excited to be welcoming Ulla-Britt as our new chairwoman, drawing on her experience in the forest-based industry. The next step in our development will be the planning and construction of our commercial demonstrator plant, and Ulla-Britt’s guidance will be invaluable”, said Dr Florence Gschwend, CTO & co-founder.
